A temporary feeding bed platform designed for orphaned fawns in wildlife rehabilitation clinics in Providence, Rhode Island. The bed guides a natural nursing posture while minimizing human contact during bottle feeding.
Background / Context
Design beyond human-centered thinking.
In the Northeastern United States, many native species are frequently brought into rehabilitation clinics due to injury, displacement, or environmental stress.
While rehabilitation supports individual recovery, it does not address the broader systemic challenges these animals face in the wild.
This project begins by questioning how design can extend beyond human-centered approaches to support animal wellbeing both in controlled care environments and
in natural ecosystems.
Recreate natural feeding behaviors in wildlife clinic to prepare them for release and to minimize human contact during feeding.
